This free program helps New Yorkers prepare to take the test to earn their High School Equivalency diploma (HSE or GED).

New Yorkers can take free, online classes to help them earn their High School Equivalency diploma (HSE or GED). The program is provided by the Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) in partnership with NYC providers.

Who it's for

Programs provide services to New Yorkers who:

  • Are at least 16 years old
  • Are not enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school
  • Do not have their high school diploma or HSE/GED
  • Have a 9.0 grade equivalent reading level on the TABE
