The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), a recognized leader and innovator in public health and mental hygiene services seeks a dynamic, highly skilled College Aide to work within the Worksite Wellness Unit. Reporting directly to the Agency’s Worksite Wellness Coordinator, the College aid will assist and coordinate a myriad of projects/assignments. The incumbent will be assisting specifically with our Fitness Programs, Nutrition workshops, and implementation of Lunchtime Health and Wellness programs at various DOHMH sites
Duties will include but not limited to:
• Plan and implement health and wellness programming and activities.
• At the direction and guidance of the supervisor, develop health education workshops and programs for the agency.
• Track and record participation and engagement data for wellness programs.
• Develop promotional and marketing materials.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders within a City government agency.
• Perform administrative tasks as necessary.
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
Preferred Skills
Undergraduate or Graduate studies in Public Health, Health Education, Behavior Sciences, Nutrition, Exercise Science, Health Communications.
Experience or knowledge of health program development and implementation.
Presentation and public speaking skills desired.
Data Entry experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Canva
This experience is ideal for current graduate students. Students are welcome to use experiences for their thesis, capstone project, practicum, or a paper.
