The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS supports the operations of the government of the City of New York by providing services for the City’s real estate needs. RES is responsible for the space planning and management of 37 million square feet, Citywide acquisitions (lease or purchase), sales and other dispositions of City-owned real estate, architectural design and project management, zoning and land use analyses, disposition of 15,000 City-owned lots, property valuation, and financial analysis of real estate transactions.

The College Aide will assist Transaction Managers and Transaction Specialists providing a wide range of administrative and clerical functions to ensure effective results.

By working directly for the City of New York, the College Aide will be included in and exposed to a wide range of high level commercial real estate deals with the intention of developing a well-rounded skill set and a knowledge base to carry throughout the College Aide’s future career.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Help to organize and attend meetings with various stakeholders such as City Agencies, property owners, internal departments, real estate brokerage companies
• Conduct surveys in Co-Star & Compstak
• Assist staff with their daily tasks related to expediting transactions
• Help to organize departmental documents and data
• Assist in updating Weekly and Monthly Reports and other basic reports
• Help to close out and quality control finalized deals. Review the hard copy lease files to ensure that all the pertinent documents are complete and in the files.
• Assist in any minor tasks related to a Special Project

Requirements Requirements

For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

Special Note
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
