The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is charged with the creation and oversight of programs, policies, services, and environments that support physical and socio-emotional health, and promote primary and reproductive health services, health equity, social justice, safety and well-being for New York City families and children.

The Division is comprised of the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health, the Bureau of Early Intervention, the Office of School Health, and the Bureau of Administration.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Work with the Assistant Director of Community Engagement to support community partner programming, including communication and follow up with local community partners and vendors.

Oversee Bronx community engagement, public awareness and communications efforts, with a focus on dissemination of content related to the Ask Before You Act community awareness campaign on sexual consent communication.

Attend borough meetings and take detailed notes and minutes for documentation.

Update all monitoring and tracking tools.

Support the ongoing administrative maintenance of the Community Action Teams (CATs) and the Youth Leadership Teams (YLTs) made up respectively of adult community leaders and adolescents from the community.

Work with the Assistant Director and evaluation staff to improve ongoing monitoring and community evaluation efforts for continuous quality improvement of community engagement work.

Support the programming of the larger New York City Teens Connection Team and attend monthly all-staff meetings.

Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
