This program prepares internationally trained nurses to pass the nurse licensing exam and find work as Registered Nurses

This free program prepares internationally trained nurses to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Through the program, participants gain the English and nursing skills needed to pass the exam and get work as a Registered Nurse in New York City.

Who it's for Who it's for

  • Have a nursing degree from a country other than the United States
  • Be an English language learner
  • Have high or intermediate level of spoken English
  • Be a New York City resident and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Submit nurse license verification application to CGFNS International and NYS Education Department
  • Make no more than $40,000 annually if employed
  • Have reliable internet and a working computer to use during the training program
  • Be vaccinated against COVID-19, except for those with an approved reasonable accommodation

Duration and Length Duration and Length

LaGuardia Community College

  • Part-time, Evening
  • 16 hours per week of training for eight months
  • Classroom sessions are typically held Monday through Thursday, 6pm – 10pm

Lehman College

  • Full-time, Daytime
  • 40 hours per week of training for seven months
  • Classroom sessions are typically held Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm
